MEET OUR NEWEST MEMBER TO BURNHAM PARK
Dr. Tara Clack
Where did you grow up? I grew up in Windsor, WI which is about 20 minutes from Madison.
What made you decide to become a Veterinarian? I've always had a strong love for animals as most veterinarians do but also loved the medical field. Becoming a veterinarian was a great way to combine these two passions and help make a difference in my patient's lives.
If you weren’t a Veterinarian, what would you be doing? Probably a human physician but who knows.....I would love to be photographer for National Geographic magazine.
What was your most rewarding moment as a Veterinarian? In general, I am most rewarded when I catch a diagnosis early and am able to save a patient's life. Without the ability of our patients to tell us where it hurts, we need to rely on diagnostic tests and clinical signs to find out what is wrong, which can be a challenging task. I am so rewarded when I figure out the problem and can give an animal the best possible quality of life that I can.
What is the most common mistake you see pet owners make, and what advice would you give them? A common mistake that pet owners make is letting their animals become too obese. It is so important to keep your pets at an appropriate weight to avoid health complications in the future. Choosing a weight management diet and limiting the amount of snacks is necessary for some dogs and cats to avoid obesity.
What do you do in your spare time? I love to run, read and play any type of sport. I also love to watch sports, particularly football and hockey. I am, however a Packer fan so I often have a difficult time finding people to cheer with!
What pets do you own? 2 cats and a dog. Our dog, Lambeau is just a puppy so I can sympathize with all the puppy owners out there!
What is your favorite vacation spot? I love my family's cabin in Northern WI. It is so peaceful and I have a lot of family around the area. I cherish the outdoors and spending time with my family.
